Disney Cruise Blog: Day 3

October 18, 2018

Pirates and beaches and parties oh my!  That’s what’s on tap for today here at Castaway Cay.  And the best part about it?!  I don’t need much in the way outfits and shoes, just a bathing suit and flip flops.  It’s sunny and 83 at the moment.  And by the way,  I’m hearing the weather in Boston is chilly this week so please know you have my sympathies.  Just remember,  I’m not trying to make you jealous, I just want you to know how fantastic this will be when you win the trip!

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island here in the Bahamas, so now that we’re here it’s a day at the beach! Literally!  You know how during the summer when you plan a day at the beach you have to pack towels, drinks, food, toys, sunscreen and all the other beaches necessities? Then you have to drive to the beach, deal with traffic and find a place to park.  Then once you park you have to lug everything down to the beach.  Oh and then the restrooms are always like 3 dunes away and they’re never, umm, let’s just say, pleasant.

Today though, I’ll walk off the Disney Dream and onto the beach.    Mickey, Minnie, Donald, even Goofy, will be there to welcome me and then all I have to do is relax.  Everything for the perfect day at the beach is already here, including a  delicious lunch at Cookies Barbecue.

My plan is to hop on the tram and head for the adults only beach, but there’s also a beach for all ages as well.  Once you’re here you can do as much or as little as you want.   Disney Cruise Line does a great job giving you options!  There’s swimming with Sting Rays, water sport options, bike rentals, parasailing, you name it, they have it.  Or you can be like me and find a quiet spot with your Highlights Magazine.  Don’t judge me, I like the articles and word jumbles.

Oh and one more thing before I go.  If you know me, you know I’m afraid of birds, but today I’ll face my fear and take the Pelican Plunge.   Disney built an interactive water park in the middle of the bay here at Castaway Cay called, obviously, Pelican Plunge!

I’ll catch up with you tomorrow!-  Chris Shine
