David Ortiz Expected To Make Full Recovery After Being Shot In The Back In The Dominican Republic

Late last night, news broke that David Ortiz was shot in the Dominican Republic. ESPN reported that occured at an amusement center in Santo Domingo, which is the capital city on the south eastern side of the island.

Ortiz was rushed to a medical center and underwent surgery. Now, according to ESPN, the Red Sox legend is now stable and expected to make a full recovery. Although he remains in intensive care, doctors stated that he is now "out of danger" and they believe he should recover quickly.

Additionally, the Boston Herald is reporting that his father Leo told a local reporter that his son is expected to make a "total recovery."

Now, we are learning more about what happened last night. The ESPN story details that Ortiz was shot at "nearly point-blank range" at the Dial Bar and Lounge. The gunman has been captured as well.

The Boston Red Sox issued a statement early this morning offering all available resources to help the family recover. Lots of MLP players have shared their well wishes for Ortiz and his family.
